St Albans City Football Club is beginning to explore the possibility of bringing forward plans for a new stadium. Proposals are at an early stage, we want to hear from local residents, supporters and community groups to help inform our early thinking and ensure any future plans are shaped by meaningful local input.
Club Chair Lawrence Levy is joined by the St Albans City FC management team to share early thoughts on a proposed new stadium at Noke Lane, Chiswell Green, and what this new chapter means for supporters and the wider city. With community at the heart of the club, we want to hear directly from fans, residents and local people from the very start, so your priorities and concerns can help shape the plans as they develop.
We recognise this is a significant change for St Albans and that not everyone will be pleased to hear of our proposed move from Clarence Park, which is exactly why your input matters. This is the start of our journey, and we would love you to get involved by asking questions, sharing what matters to you, and helping us get it right.
The Club is exploring plans to potentially create a new purpose-built and modern stadium for the Club between the A405 and M25 off Noke Lane, Chiswell Green. We’re committed to working with fans, residents and stakeholders local to Noke Lane and across the city to ensure any plans reflect the priorities and values of the people who live and work here.
St Albans City Football Club is more than a football club. We are part of the fabric of this community, with deep roots across the city and district. Whether you are a supporter, a local resident, part of one of our community programmes, or live near the potential new site, your insight matters. This is still the very early stages of the process. We are currently working to shape our initial plans. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be sharing more detail and inviting people across St Albans to get involved. At the heart of our thinking is a vision for a new ground that supports the Club’s future and brings wider benefits to the community. From improved fan facilities to expanded community sports provision, better matchday operations to a carefully planned commercial development to fund the stadium, this is about creating something that works for everyone.
A purpose-built, local home designed to meet National League standards and beyond. This will enable the Club to grow, compete, and offer an improved matchday experience for fans and families, with accessible facilities and enhanced spaces to support youth and women’s teams.
New retail and hospitality spaces to enhance the fan and visitor experience, providing key funding to support the Club’s long-term financial security.
Modern, inclusive community sports facilities combined with ongoing outreach and partnerships with local schools and organisations, supporting active lifestyles, youth development, and community wellbeing.
A well-planned commercial development to help fund the stadium and community facilities, designed to respect the local area, minimise impact, and add lasting value.
Designed to manage matchday operations effectively, minimise traffic impact, and respect the surrounding neighbourhood, ensuring a positive experience for both local residents and visitors.
St Albans City FC has called Clarence Park home since 1908 and it holds a special place in the hearts of many across our city. While it has served us well, our current ground is no longer fit for purpose and is unable to meet the needs of a modern football club, or the standards required to grow and thrive.
St Albans City Football Club has been part of the city’s sporting and community for over a century. We are more than just a football club; we are part of the social fabric of St Albans.
Clarence Park has been our home since 1908, hosting generations of fans and playing a central role in the city’s shared identity. We have a proud legacy of nurturing local talent, with strong links to schools, grassroots football and youth clubs across the district.
We also work closely with local charities and causes to support wellbeing, inclusion and civic pride. Our home fixtures attract thousands of fans, providing a boost to local businesses and the wider St Albans economy.
With deep roots and a strong identity, we proudly represent St Albans across the country and are committed to building a future that reflects the values of the city we call home.
Whilst we are still in the very early stages of planning for our new stadium, we have already been speaking to local councillors, community groups and residents, including in Chiswell Green, as part of our commitment to partnership working.
We introduced our early plans and opening a dialogue with local residents in Chiswell Green, where we are proposing our new grounds.
The Club gave a presentation at a St Albans City and District Council meeting, where we introduced our early plans for a potential new stadium for The Saints. We spoke not only to councillors and parish councillors, but to community representatives from Clarence Park Residents Association, Saints City Trust, Chiswell Green Residents Association and Keep Chiswell Green.
We are currently undertaking vital technical and environmental work that will shape our understanding of possible impacts on the local environment and community as we develop our application. We will soon be undertaking an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) that will identify key impacts for us to be aware of as we build our proposals – this is not a planning application or a request for approval.
Consultation on the vision and our early ideas. We will also be undertaking key environmental and technical works to ensure we fully understand possible impacts of our proposed new stadium at Noke Lane.
We’re at the beginning of shaping something new for St Albans City Football Club, and we want your input to help us get it right. Sign up below to take part in upcoming events, share your views, and play a role in developing the Club’s future plans.
